Héctor F. Garcia B. took part in the "Proteína Viva" trade fair in Ecuador together with our dealer Importadora Almeida.
This event is a combination of exhibition and training fair that allows a professional, commercial and academic meeting between the actors of the animal protein production chain in Ecuador.
The trade fair was extremely successful and we were able to further strengthen our brand.
Thanks to the excellent cooperation with Importadora Almeida and the positive feedback from visitors, we were able to expand our profile and our network.
Our stand was well attended and we had many promising discussions with potential customers and partners.
The trade fair has inspired and motivated us to further expand our innovative strength and continue to develop creative solutions for our customers in the future.
At Anuga Food Tec, we had the opportunity to arrange several meetings with our distributors, which were very productive.
We took the opportunity to discuss with industry experts and potential partners how we can tailor the EFA brand even better to the needs of our customers.
These discussions enabled us to gain valuable insights and refine our strategies for product development and marketing.
Our stand design was engaging and innovative, with interactive displays and demonstration areas that piqued visitors' interest.
We also handed out promotional gifts to strengthen our brand and remind trade fair visitors of us.
These measures not only enabled us to build business relationships, but also to increase brand awareness and maximize our presence at the trade fair.
The SÜFFA trade fair, an important meeting place for the meat industry, once again proved to be an important platform for innovations and solutions. EFA took the opportunity to present its outstanding products and services.
Every year, SÜFFA acts as a marketplace for the meat industry and brings together experts from Germany and abroad. The trade fair took place in Stuttgart, Germany, from October 21-23, 2023. It offered a wide range of products and services for butchers and presented solutions for current challenges. Leading companies showcased exciting innovations, first-class technologies and customized solutions for production, sales and the out-of-home market.
EFA offered insights into technical requirements, the latest developments and the company's product portfolio. Taking part in SÜFFA enabled EFA to engage in a personal exchange with experts and customers from the butcher's trade.
The company enjoyed the opportunity to demonstrate its commitment at the trade fair and to make new contacts. The impressions from SÜFFA have inspired EFA to continue to promote innovation and quality in the meat processing industry. Many thanks to the participating employees for their commitment at the trade fair.
Since the introduction of electric stunning devices with optional stunning parameters and logging of the stunning processes to achieve demonstrably better stunning results in terms of animal welfare, Schmid & Wezel currently offers the electric livestock stunner VBE 7 under the EFA brand, which fully complies with the legal requirements.
The VBE 7 consists of a compact electric unit and a stunning forceps; the stunning forceps, in turn, are available in three different versions, matched to animal size and species.
Electrical stunning with forceps
So far, stunning is performed in 2 steps: after entering the appropriate stunning parameters, the first stunning is performed by positioning and contact of the stunning forceps on both sides of the animal's head at eye level (celebral stunning), in the 2nd step, the forceps is then repositioned so that the forceps electrodes in the diagonal of the heart emit a 2nd current pulse (cardiac stunning).
This procedure leads to time delays and incorrect starting points of the forceps between the stunning of the brain and heart and the resulting suffering, which should be avoided as far as possible from the point of view of animal welfare.
In order to optimize the process by stunning the brain and heart quickly and in immediate succession, the VBE 7 and its successors offer the installation and control of a 3rd electrode, which can be positioned from the side, on the pig's trunk in the stunning bay.
The stunning process is still initiated with positioning of the forceps on the animal's head. The brain is stunned by a current pulse at the forceps electrodes. The second stunning is performed by the electrode in the stunning bay on the pig's trunk and the opposite forceps electrode on the head; the second forceps electrode is automatically switched off.
When using the faster and more effective 3-point stunning procedure, it was observed that when the stunning parameters were set appropriately, the animals fell much more quietly and showed less bleeding and bone fractures in the post-test.
The argument of faster throughput times and better meat quality should also convince operators.
In very many of the stunning bays currently in use, it is possible to retrofit the 3rd electrode to the stunning bay.
